On care of our common home
THE LETTER
I had the privilege and the pleasure to provide support to the “making of” the film THE LETTER. What a rewarding experience! The première of the film took place last Tuesday at the Vatican. Another unique experience.
The film is based on Pope Francis encyclical “Laudato Si”, a unique meditation and strong wake-up call. It launches a powerful interreligious call to action to saving our planet. It’s also a strong reflection on the impact of climate change and on
who is ultimately paying the bill: our youth and the poor.
THE LETTER works with several representatives of our planet…including an American scientific couple representing the voice of the silent nature, a young Indian activist launching the cry of the youth, a Brazilian Indian leader directly affected by the destruction of our planet’s lung and a Senegalese youth and ex-slave that continues to witness what climate change means in his today’s reality.
Nicolas Brown, the American film Director, and his crew created
a masterpiece that will not leave anybody untouched.
I had the honour to accompany him during his work in St. Louis (Senegal) and in Assisi. Watching the work of engaged experts can only be a very rewarding experience.
Arouna, the Senegalese voice in the film has become to me the strongest symbol of hope.
Yes, you can overcome slavery.
Yes, we will overcome the climate change challenges.
Arouna’ voice resonates as a refreshing hope throughout THE LETTER.
I will write more about him in my next blog.
