Auto recycling
Autowrecking.com – powered by B&R – a recent visit
On my last USA trip, I was lucky to join a friend and visit one of the largest “car cemeteries” in the US West Coast. He was looking for some engine pieces for his old Jeep that he is currently restoring. I was happy to have my camera with me and to make an incredible discovery.
It was the discovery of an amazingly large
“living” cars cemetery.
It was the site of B&R – the largest US car recycler – in Eugene/OR.

What a discovery:
A US$ 25 BIO industry with over 100’000 employees
80% of a vehicle is recycled
The automobile recycling industry in the U.S. and Canada provides steel to produce roughly 13 million new vehicles per year
Autos are the most recycled consumer product
A fully digitized “car cemetery”
And a very friendly and “hands-on” spirit in the cemetery I had the chance to visit

The entrepreneurial spirit I encountered at this auto wrecking plant and the results it generates was a perfect example of the power of markets and entrepreneurship with
an astonishing positive impact on the resources of our planet.
